Marco Balbi Dipalma performer and video artist. Master's degree in theatre disciplines from the University of Bologna; degree as socio-cultural educator from the University of Bologna; advanced training in contemporary archiving, Central State Archive in Rome. I studied and collaborated with Maestro D. Pasquali theatre and film acting, directing, improvisation, voice. I collaborated for 18 years in the paratre of Maestro R. Mirecka actress J. Grotowski's Teatr Laboratorium.

e Master passed on to him the training of the Teatr Laboratorium, in particular the plastic exercises and the creation of ritual performative actions. Marco Balbi Dipalma has had various experiences of traditional rituals and meditation, which led him, in 2021, to start a new research into ritual performance art. In 2021, he began his investigation into Ritual perforamce art. Since 2022, the research has focused on Ritual video art performace.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Balbi Dipalma questions the relationship between the 'I' and Being, starting from the plasticity of the body. The form of the body, which arises from inner needs, colours the space with emotional tones, becoming an open form. Video has this peculiar ability to record in real time, piercing the body with light to illuminate the presence of the soul. The body is a language of glimpses and fissures. The ambivalent being of presence and absence. 

He uses the technique of reverse time, freeze, feedbackloop, datamosh, to dissolve the plasticity of the body into a spatial self that flows into colour, colour that creates lived space. Red is the colour that contemplates. The eternal Pathos of red. His videos are carnal prayers.

The videos, based on autobiographical experiences, investigate the verticality of the human being and thematise pain as a source of relational and spiritual transformative knowledge. The primary love of the performer is at the centre of my investigation.
