PERFORMANCE

Marco Balbi Dipalma, while pursuing a degree in theatre disciplines at the University of Bologna, worked with Maestro Dimitri Pasquali. The Maestro taught him the main tenics of theatre and cinema: acting, directing, imporvisation and vocality. His encounter with M. Rena Mirecka's paratheatre deepened his work in performance as ritual. Since 2021, she has been researching in Ritual Performance art, the co-adaptation of traditional ritual perforamtive forms with the creativity of performance. The performer's action is a vehicle for individual and collective investigation, knowledge and transformation in the encounter with Self, witnesses and participants. The action is accompanied by electronica music and live projections of the performance itself as a meditative support for both performer and participants. The performances are performed in galleries, unconventional spaces and in nature, where the communicative and participatory constraint of Italian Theatre is not present, which according to the artist does not help the induction of emotional energies through the dynamics of the acting body and the encounter.

PARATHEATRICAL ACTION

The paratheatrical actions were created from 2017 to 2021 within "THE SUN | The schol of Rena Mirecka", which the artist directed at the Grotowski Institute in Wrolclaw. They are developed in continuity and as a personal elaboration of the work of Rena Mirecka, whose pupil, assistant and later leader in the paratheatre Marco Balbi Dipalma was. The paratheatrical actions do not have an audience, only active participants. They were realised within the paratheatre workshop 'THE PASSAGE' both in the working room and in nature. The workshop was not intended simply as a teaching of techniques for performers, but as a moment of community creation, in which the experience of encounter was placed at the centre.

RITUAL PERFORMANCE ART

Ritual performance art works are in the making. The research started in 2021. At present, the structure of the action is predominantly improvised and revolves around a feeling, an intention and certain body forms. The focus of the action is predominantly shifted to the creation of a choreographic language, which draws on modern dance, afro dance, plastic exercises and tai chi. The performances investigate the inner technique associated with form and feeling. They are performed by witnesses in non-theatre spaces, where the arrangement of observers changes according to the space. The performer seeks a vertical dimension and the creation of an experienced space, which can touch those present by induction.
